Jonathan Silberman, 75, is the organiser of the Communist League's Central Committee. He writes for The Militant newsweekly and is the director of Pathfinder Books. As a shopfloor worker in manufacturing industries over decades, he has led and
organised solidarity for strikes over jobs, wages, and union rights.
In the UK and internationally, Jonathan joins efforts to defend Cuba’s socialist revolution, fight Jew-hatred, back immigrant rights and build the communist movement.
He says:
"What working people in Holborn and St. Pancras, the UK and globally face now is a march by rival capitalist powers to World War III alongside a mounting attack on our living standards and rights. Cuba's workers and farmers face an accelerated assault on their socialist revolution as Washington with the tacit support of London seeks to crush that example.
"Jew hatred is on the rise. Labour, Conservative, Green, Reform, Restore UK – capitalist parties all – have no faith in the capacities of toiling human beings. The march to war can only be ended by working people ourselves taking political power away from the propertied war mongers with their “dog-eat-dog” moral values – just as working people did in Cuba in 1959.
"The Communist League says fighting Jew-hatred and defending Israel's existence as a refuge for Jews – is decisive for the working class, as well as pushing back attacks on immigrants and advancing solidarity with workers struggles internationally. Only by building a revolutionary working-class party to lead millions to replace capitalist rule can we put an end to exploitation, all national oppression and advance to a socialist world.
